01.Overview

Anime is a cultural property, so its content should be protected

Project highlight

A flagship Japanese project at BJIT

OPENPOST was designed at BJIT for a Japanese client, as the official NFT marketplace of the Association of Japanese Animations, and it became one of my most successful projects there. I led the UX and UI end to end: the marketplace, product and certificate pages, purchase and download, resale, member accounts, mobile, and the design system, in Japanese and English.

The AJA officialNFT marketplace

OPENPOST sells digital content that is officially licensed by animation and character creators and guaranteed by the rights holders. It runs with the Association of Japanese Animations (AJA).

Fans who buy an item can sell it again later. Every product carries a certificate signed by the rights holder, and because that certificate uses NFT blockchain technology, it is almost impossible to forge.

  • LicensedContent comes straight from creators and rights holders.
  • CertifiedA signed, blockchain-backed certificate with every item.
  • ResellableOwners can list items again, at a fixed price or by auction.
  • FairA share of the revenue goes back to the people who made it.

02.Problem

Fans want the real thing, creators want their share

Digital anime content is easy to copy. A fan can’t tell an official file from a copy, and when content changes hands, the people who made it usually earn nothing. The design had to make trust visible on every screen.

  • 01Trust

Show that an item is official before anyone pays, not after.

  • 02Clarity

Japanese product data is dense. Status, category, seller and price had to be readable at a glance.

  • 03Return

Make reselling as simple as buying, so value keeps flowing back to creators.

03.How it works

One item, a full circle of value

The service rests on a simple loop. I mapped it first, so every screen could point to where the user is in it.

  1. 01Rights holder

Lists officially licensed content and sets the revenue share.

  2. 02Certificate

Each item gets a certificate signed by the rights holder, recorded as an NFT.

  3. 03Fan buys

Purchases on the marketplace and downloads the files.

  4. 04Fan resells

Lists the item again as a secondary sale, at a fixed price or by auction.

  5. 05Creator earns

A share of every sale goes back to the creator.

04.Marketplace

Browse by studio, sort by what matters

  1. Hero bannerA rotating banner tells the story: anime is the pride of Japan and a cultural property to the world.
  2. FiltersGeneral or Auction, sort by newest or price, filter by sales status and seller.
  3. StudiosA side list of production companies and creators, so fans can follow the studios they love.
  4. Product cardsName, subtitle, title of work and studio, then colour-coded tags and the price.
  5. LanguageJapanese and English, switched from the header at any time.

Card anatomy

One card, read top to bottom

  1. 1ArtworkA square thumbnail with the official key visual, so fans recognise the title instantly.
  2. 2Name and favouriteProduct name in bold, with a star to save it. Filled when saved, outlined when not.
  3. 3Who made itSubtitle, title of work and production studio, in falling order of weight.
  4. 4Three colour tagsGreen for sales status, charcoal for category, blue for the seller. Fans scan colour before text.
  5. 5PriceAlways on the last line, aligned right, so prices line up across the grid.
  6. 6No image yetA calm placeholder keeps the grid even when artwork is still on its way.

05.Product detail

Everything a buyer needs, on one screen

Product detail: image gallery, title, studio, creator, price, sales period, description and purchase

Facts first, then the buy button

The left column holds the image gallery, status, category, seller and the certificate badge. The right column reads like a label: title, studio, creator, price, quantity, sales period, conditions and revenue share, then quantity and total, then Buy.

More from the same studio follows below, to keep fans browsing.

Hovering the image opens a large zoom beside it, so fans can check the artwork’s detail before they buy.

06.Certificate

Proof that travels with the item

An OPENPOST certificate with Token ID, title, creator, owner, purchase number and dates, issued with the AJA

Signed, numbered, on chain

Each purchase comes with a certificate: Token ID, title of work, production company or creator, owner, purchase number, purchase date and download time, in Japanese and English.

It carries the AJA mark and a clear note: the certificate guarantees the information at the time of download, and the latest status can always be checked on the blockchain.

07.Download

Get the files, keep the receipt

market.openpost.co.jp
Download screen with product name, price, purchase number, a list of files with download buttons, and a bulk download

Clear, and hard to lose

After purchase, files download one by one or all at once. The purchase number sits at the top with a reminder to note it down, because it’s needed for questions and for reselling.

A re-download ID appears at the bottom. Files can be downloaded again up to three times, and the page says so in plain words.

08.Resale

Selling is as simple as buying

Sales information registration

The listing form is split into three blocks that match how an owner thinks: what I bought, what the product is, how I want to sell it. Purchase details are pre-filled and read-only, so nothing can be changed by mistake.

Owners choose a fixed price or an auction, the payment method, dates and a thumbnail. The copyright holder’s revenue share is shown up front, so everyone knows what goes back to the creator.

Every field has a help icon, and required fields are marked in red.

09.Account

Trust starts at sign-up

Member flows share one calm layout: a centred card, labels on the left, help icons on the right. Members agree to the terms, set a profile with two security questions, register a Japanese bank account for payouts, and can change their profile or pause membership at any time.

10.iPhone & iPad

The same marketplace, on every screen

Mobile web

Two columns, one menu

On phones the marketplace keeps everything a fan needs, just reorganised for a thumb.

  • Two-column gridEvery card keeps its artwork, colour tags and price.
  • One menuSelling, purchase history, language, studios and profile in one place.
  • Folded filtersGeneral or Auction stays visible; the rest folds into 絞り込み検索.

Promotional screenshots

Five promises, told on iPhone and iPad

I designed a set of promotional screenshots for iPhone and iPad. Each one pairs a screen with a single promise in large Japanese type, in the order a new fan meets the service.
