01.Overview

Mealkunミールくん · 給食情報システム

GCC Mealkun helps nutritionists at Japanese schools, nurseries and lunch centres plan menus, check every meal against nutritional standards, manage allergens, and produce the reports their work requires.

It's a dense, data-heavy tool used every day. I designed the 2024 version with a calm lavender workspace, one pink action colour, and a friendly mascot that makes a serious system feel approachable.

Login: Log in to your account with User ID, Password, Remember me and Forgot password — **Login.** The mascot and a soft illustrated background set the tone from the first screen.

02.Planning menus

A month at a glance

Menus are planned on a calendar. Every dish is a small chip, coloured by type and marked with a symbol for when it's served, so a nutritionist can read a whole month's balance without opening a single day.

One day, in detail

Opening a day shows each serving time as rows of dishes, with energy, protein and edible amount filled in automatically, and the name, search text and dish type used on printed menus.

Menu details for a primary school day with dish rows and the nutrient check table below — **献立詳細.** Dishes by serving time, with tools for the dish master, food composition table, graph, nutrition and process views.

Kitchen view with ingredients under each dish, cooking options and allergens — **Kitchen view.** Ingredients nested under each dish, with options to scale up, split by pot and heat, plus the allergens each ingredient carries. An allergen ingredient is flagged in red.

Allergy menu details for the egg and milk allergen group — **Allergy menu.** The same day, rebuilt for an allergen group (卵/牛乳, egg/milk).

Nursery menu details with separate infant and toddler values — **Nursery.** One menu, two age groups: infants (乳児) and toddlers (幼児) each get their own energy, protein and portion.

03.Nutrition at a glance

Green meets it, red doesn't

Under every menu sits the same table: the meal's total on the top row and the standard on the bottom row (上段:総量 / 下段:基準). Each total turns green when it meets the standard and red when it falls short, so gaps are visible before anything is saved.

04.Copying menus

Reuse a month in one move

Menus repeat. The copy screen puts the source month on the left and the target on the right: tick single days to copy them, or press 全複写 (copy all) to bring the whole month across, then save.

05.Importing data

Every row tells you what it needs

Menus and recipes can be loaded from files, and not every ingredient matches the food database. Import screens colour each row by status, so the nutritionist fixes only what needs attention instead of checking everything.

Load menu data with status colours and an ingredient needing input highlighted — **献立データ読込.** Imported menus by day; a missing ingredient is highlighted for input.

Load cooking data with dishes, ingredients and amounts — **料理データ読込.** Imported dishes with their ingredients and amounts.

Food composition table transfer mapping source foods to destination foods — **食品成分表振替.** When the food table changes, map each old food (振替元) to its new entry (振替先) in one aligned table.

Print-ready, Excel-ready

Lunch headcount list dialog with date, schools, options, preview, print and Excel export — **給食人数一覧.** Pick a date and schools, choose options, then preview, print or export to Excel.

User list with permissions, kitchen, school or nursery settings and login statistics — **ユーザー一覧.** Users with permissions, kitchen and school settings, plus login and normal-exit rates.

07.App 2 · Nursery nutrition

From each child to the nursery's targets

The second application in the suite, “School Lunch Information System for schools and kitchens”, works from the child up: who is enrolled, how much energy each child needs, and what the nursery's lunch and snack should deliver. Every screen was designed in English and Japanese.

App 2 home: master management menu with basic information, class, kindergarten, food composition and dietary intake standards — **App 2 home (給食情報システム).** Every master one click away. A mint canvas tells users at once which of the two apps they’re in.

The calculation, made visible

The nutrition target screen shows its working instead of a single number: the dietary reference intake per day, the share served at lunch and snack, and the resulting daily target, for each nutrient.

Standards, by age and sex

The Dietary Intake Standards Table follows the Dietary Reference Intakes for Japanese people, by age band (0–5 months up to 6–7 years) and by sex, with every standard type in its own column.

Below the form, each child keeps a history of calculations: date, height, weight, Kaup index (カウプ指数), EER and the standards edition used.

Growth & obesity

Height and weight growth curves and an obesity level result table, filtered by year, class and reference date, with Excel output and printing.

“Children of unknown gender are not eligible.” The rule is stated on the screen, next to the filter it affects.

Kindergarten master: one child's record with a history of height, weight, Kaup index and EER calculations — **園児マスタ.** One child’s record. Example history row: 80.0 cm, 10.2 kg, Kaup index 15.6, EER 860 kcal, standards 2020 edition.

Height and weight growth curve: filter by year, class, name and sex, with a note that children of unknown sex are excluded — **身長体重成長曲線.** Growth curves by class; the note beside the sex filter explains who’s excluded.

Obesity level determination result table with a reference date and an option to include transferred children — **肥満度判定結果表.** Results on a reference date, optionally including children who transferred before it.

Guarding the irreversible

New fiscal year · Class master

When registering the class master for the new year, calculation processing for previous years will no longer be possible.

The warning appears before the class master is copied to a new year, followed by a confirmation that the copy succeeded.

Bulk data deletion

Deletion year FY2018: data before March 31, 2019.

The screen lists exactly what will go: estimated energy requirement results, nutrition target results, and the child master for children who graduated, transferred, left, or are aged 6 or older. Every nursery, or one at a time.

Bulk data deletion: deletion year Heisei 30, data before March 31, Heisei 31, with deletion targets — **一括データ削除.** The year, the cut-off date and every target are visible before 削除 (delete) is pressed.

Application information

A Terminal Information screen keeps support simple: everything a support call needs, on one screen that can be previewed and printed.

08.Design system

Lavender calm, one pink action.

A soft canvas keeps long tables restful: lavender for the menu app, mint for the nursery app, so users always know which one they’re in. Pink is reserved for the primary action and the current place in the menu, green and red only ever mean “meets the standard” and “doesn't”, and the mascot appears where it helps the product feel friendly.
